Martin Scorsese’s look at the history of Italian cinema through the lens of his own experience. His awakening to Italian film occurred when he was a child in New York’s Little Italy in the 1940s. Already in love with movies by the age of 6, his exposure to this new kind of cinema was tied forever to his recognition of his own origins, the history of his family and the place they’d originally called home.
